Tournament Format / Master Point System
Rules
2011 United States Backgammon League / ABT tournament rules & procedures will be followed.
Format
Two match guarantee with progressive consolation format will be adhered to with byes being drawn as necessary. 7 point matches will be played in the main flight with 5 point matches being played in the consolation bracket. The winner of the main flight final match is 1st place, the loser of that match drops to the final match of the consolation bracket to play for 2nd or 3rd place with the prize money being split (50%/30%/20%). With 8 or fewer players the prize money will be split (60%/40%).
The tournament entry fee is $21 for any player that has cashed in a CBPC tournament in the past and $11 for everyone else. Those latter players will be denoted with an “N” by their name in tournament brackets. In addition, there is an optional $10 side-pool paid out to the side-pool participant who wins the main bracket final match. Otherwise it is paid to the side-pool participant who advances furthest in the consolation bracket. 100% of all entry fees and side-pools are returned to the players, there is no rake. $1 of each $21/$11 dollar entry fee is held back for the tournament of champions to be played Sunday, December 18th. All winners (1st place main flight) of CBPC tournaments throughout 2010 will be invited to play in the TOC with 1st & 2nd place splitting the accumulated fees 60/40%.

Master Points
Master points are awarded for each game won and bonus points are awarded for placing 1st or 2nd in bracket style tournament play. In progressive consolation double elimination 1st and 2nd place are considered the two bracket (main & consolation) finalists.
Master points are allocated according to the following schedule:
3 point matches won are worth 0.15 points
5 point matches won are worth 0.25 points
7 point matches won are worth 0.50 points
9 point matches won are worth 0.75 points
1st place earns the number of players in a tournament multiplied by 0.20
2nd place earns the number of players in a tournament multiplied by 0.10
At the end of the year the player with the most master points is declared club player of the year and will be recognized with a trophy and prize.
